Curious George Goes Camping

Last week when we did our stART project we read Curious George goes Camping. Sammy loves Curious George so I knew this book and project would be a hit. Our theme last week was camping.

I decided to make a smore with Sammy. I am sure somewhere on the internet someone has done this before.. but for me.. it was totally an original idea. That doesn’t happen very often ;-)

For the graham crackers we used 2 pieces of card board. I cut them down for Sammy and he smeared glue on both of them:

Next up the marshmallows. We used cotton balls. Sammy pulled them apart:

Then glued them on one piece of the graham crackers:

Next up the chocolate, I used a piece of dark brown craft foam. I cut this down for Sammy as well:

Yesterday I took some tums for heart burn.  Sammy asked, “What’s that you eating?”  I responded that it was medicine to make my heart better.  Then corrected myself and said heart burn.  A few minutes later Sammy asked, “ Can I have some vitamins for my heart?”

While at the beach we drove past  a gentleman’s club that is right on the main strip you drive up and down all the time.  We drove past it a bunch of times before Sammy noticed and said, “ohh look horseys *neigh*!” 

My Dad was hear helping us build our deck two weekends ago.  Sammy kept asking where  Gigi was.  I told him that Gigi was at the beach with her friends.  Sammy then kept repeating that or his version, “Gigi at far away beach with the kids.”

We were hanging out with Jolanthe a few weeks ago and Sammy was talking to Zachary.  He kept saying hey kid, or kid every time he wanted to get Zachary’s attention.

Soccer Season is Upon Us

Tim’s little sister ‘Nicia is playing travel soccer this season and we have been able to make it to one game so far this year!  Nicia is having a lot of fun playing with her team!  I was able to get a couple of action shots at the game we went to.

The travel games are much faster pace than the rec. league and therefore much harder to photograph!

Some Random Pictures

I am feeling very creative can you tell ;-).. A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of having dinner with my sister and her lovely family!  We had fun playing and hanging out.  The only pictures we got were of them eating their yummy ice cream with sprinkles on top! 

Yes, that is Sammy with his shirt off.. he’s a little messy ;-) so bummed this came out blurry!! But I had to post it anyway! My sister got some a better picture of the boys!

I finished this sewing project a while ago but just hadn’t gotten the chance to share it!  I made this table runner for my friend Katie.  (Just pretend its straight.. k?)

I also got this super cute picture of Sammy and her sweet kiddos:  

A good friend of mine had a beautiful baby girl and we stopped in to see them before we left for vacation:

Preschool – Letter L and an Apple Theme

Sammy’s first day of preschool, yes those are his favorite puppies next to him.  He takes them everywhere:

We made this cute ladybug form Confessions of a Homeschooler:

We did some writing practice.  Sammy had fun with this practice but it was a little bit too tough for him.

Now the bulk of what we will be doing this year comes from 1+1+1=1’s raising rock star preschool.  I used the Letter L cards and turned them into a memory game since Sammy LOVES to play memory.

He worked on matching upper and lower case letters with this printable.  I typically wouldn’t give Sammy that many things to work on.. however the boy LOVES letters!!  He worked through all of them:

This printable is fun since you can either clip the answer or next time I will let him circle the answer.  He really liked the pictures on them!

Such focus: 

Sorting ladybugs by size.  He definitely wasn’t very good at this yet but he had fun playing with all the different ladybugs.

He worked on this ladybug puzzle:

Sammy hacked cut out his memory verse, we still need a lot of work with scissors:

We did some counting and clipping.  Sammy likes activities that require some movement and working with his hands.  So you will see a lot of these types of activities in our preschool posts.   In this picture we are making the clothes pin talk and say its number and hi:  

Sammy loved this writing practice pages from 1+1+1=1.  After doing it for a few days he was actually able to write the letter L!

We worked on our memory verse, Sammy wasn’t able to memorize it but he did like repeating it with me.  He remembered parts of it and I know he will get the memorizing of things when he is ready!  On the right side of the page you can see his letter L he drew.

We hung a lot of our finished products up on the wall and Sammy thought that was really neat to look at them after they were finished:

Sammy colored this and I cut it out for him.  He then did all of the gluing:

For a field trip we went to the arboretum  with some friends.  We saw ducks and:

I laid out the pieces to the alphabet train puzzle and he was able to complete it with very little help from me.

Ladybug building was a big hit.  next time I think I won’t laminate both the things since the pieces were sliding all over the place.

I didn’t get many pictures of our theme work this week.  We did have fun with apples though.  We washed this apple and cut it up for a snack.  We also did apple prints and made an apple peanut butter smile snack.

This past weekend we redid our deck and Sammy got in on the action:

Beach Trip - Day 7

Sammy made sure he found all of the Land Before Time characters before we left ;-). This was our last day at the beach.. It was truly the most amazing vacation I think I have ever been on! Thanks to my parents for letting us use your condo!! Thanks Tim and Sammy for a wonderful trip!
