So this my first ever Weekly Wrap-up! My little guy is growing up and we are moving up from Preschool (& Kindergarten) Corner.
We worked on the book, The Mitten, this week. Sammy loved reading this book each day. We did some of the super cute printables from Homeschool Creations The Mitten printables. We also did a few hands on activities this week. I didn’t take as many pictures as I had hoped. But we did this hands on activity with a mitten and ice cubes again this week.
Sammy LOVED putting the animals in order that they are from the book. We have been working on ordinal numbers in math so this was a great hands on way to practice them outside of his math curriculum.
Sammy is cruising along with his All About Reading Level 1 program. As of today he only has 3 lessons left! In this lesson he was working on reading the plurals of words:
Math – U- See.. I have a love hate relationship with it. I love the hands on I love how things just click! I hate a few things with it. The lack of handwriting practice in the lessons.. and when lessons don’t click I don’t know how to help Sammy understand them. Skip counting is not a strong suit of his.. any ideas on other things we can do to practice this?
Here he was doing some problems kind of like algebra. He had ____ + 5=10 and he had to find out what the blank was. He loved these problems:
Reviewing adding 10’s together:
We also did a hands on activity to go along with our Mystery of History lesson this week. I will post this next week but here is a little peek:

I love the on-the-floor pictures...the hands-on ordinal number practice looks fun!
Mystery of History looks like such an amazing program.
My brain is shutting down for the weekend, but I'll be thinking about skip counting & fun ways to get a little extra practice.
Have a great weekend!
I love The Mitten!
I have never heard of the Mystery of History, I will have to check it out! :)
Sammy is getting so big, can't believe our little guys are writing, reading & getting smarter each day!
We have never used Math U See. But I gotta tell you I have a love hate relationship with all math. I feel so confident in other subjects, but I worry that my children will be math duds cause their mama is.
Looks like you all had a very hands on week. Fun! Looking forward to seeing your history post.
awesome activities! So happy it's going so well for you and Sammie!
love the idea of the weekly round-up! such a great way to look back on all the fun and learning!
How fun!! We are looking into Math U See. I'm not sold on it, but I need a good solid program that will push Sophie and so many people have recommended it.
Will learned his skip counting basics with a song. Skip count skip count, count by __, (repeat total 3 times)
we can count to ___. (2s to 20, 5s to 50, 10s to 100) then you count that 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.
